How to work out the weight of a printed piece before it’s printed
When printing inserts for magazines it's useful to know their final weight in order to keep within your allowance. Here's how you do it:
- Multiply the weight of your paper by the measurements of the printed item then multiply that figure by the number of leaves (not pages!)
- So, 90gsm paper at a size of 240 x 170mm will be 90 x .24 x .17 = 3.67 grammes
- Multiply that by the number of leaves (8, for example) will give you 3.67 x 8 = 29.36 grammes.
