Standards & certification

Design and print affect the environment. Calverts has therefore implemented an environmental management system to the requirements of ISO 14001 to reduce our negative environmental impacts.

We are committed to comply with or exceed the requirements of environmental legislation and other environmental initiatives to which we subscribe. We are also committed to the prevention of pollution and continual improvement.

Our objectives are to:

1) Reduce our carbon emissions

2) Reduce the impact of paper use on natural resources

3) Improve resource efficiency and recycling

We have set up programmes to achieve this with targets and time scales.

Arts

Here's a peek at the RCA's Show 2011 catalogue, which we've just printed in time for this week's opening. Working with designers Kellenberger-White, we printed on Claro Silk, with section dividers on Trucard recycled gloss board. The cover was also Trucard gloss, but with a sandgrain embossed surface on one side. We can say that, all round, it's a stunning book. Eva Kellenberger and Seb White have used their very own display font, KW Black, to real effect.

Show 2011 comes hot on the heels of the RCA's Show Fashion 2011 catalogue, which we printed earlier in the month, featuring a section binding finish with black threads - no cover, just open glued, and printed on Naturalis smooth natural white. Do we not like? We certainly do.
