Design and print affect the environment. Calverts has therefore implemented an environmental management system to the requirements of ISO 14001 to reduce our negative environmental impacts.

We are committed to comply with or exceed the requirements of environmental legislation and other environmental initiatives to which we subscribe. We are also committed to the prevention of pollution and continual improvement.

Digital Printing

Intrepid traveller and photographer Michael Thomas's Elusive India: Kutch, published under Michael's Pipal Press imprint, is a beautiful photodocumentary about a remarkable region of India, ten years after a powerful earthquake which caused enormous damage and suffering.

For digital printing 200 copies on Calverts KM 8000 press, we tested Michael's greyscale images on a number of stocks - including Colorplan and Olin - before settling on 150gsm and 240gsm Munken Lynx Smooth, a soft white, tactile woodfree uncoated paper from Robert Horne. After a single round of proofing and adjustments to greyscale curves for three or four pictures, the end results are stunning.
