Standards & certification

Design and print affect the environment. Calverts has therefore implemented an environmental management system to the requirements of ISO 14001 to reduce our negative environmental impacts.

We are committed to comply with or exceed the requirements of environmental legislation and other environmental initiatives to which we subscribe. We are also committed to the prevention of pollution and continual improvement.

Our objectives are to:

1) Reduce our carbon emissions

2) Reduce the impact of paper use on natural resources

3) Improve resource efficiency and recycling

We have set up programmes to achieve this with targets and time scales.

Sustainability

London Remade figures show CO2 reduction of 107 tonnes.

Our latest Recycled Purchasing Report from London Remade has just been released. Based on WRAP's life cycle analysis studies these figures show the environmental savings from using recycled rather than virign based paper. The figures show that Calverts clients who specified recycled paper in 2006/7 diverted 76.72 tonnes of post consumer waste from landfill resulting in a CO2 reduction of 107.39 tonnes, water savings of 2301300 litres, air pollution reduced by 2071.17kg and 176.43 m3 of landfill space saved.
